| The I Ching is an ancient Chinese book of wisdom and divination which is made up of 64 hexagrams (6 lines) that mirror 64 laws of the universe. Each hexagram has a name and a commentary related to it. The 64 hexagrams are the result of the combination of 8 trigrams (3 lines), which are themselves the combination of 3 yin or yang lines (solid or broken lines). This dialectical combination of lines symbolizes the interplay of the two fundamental forces of the universe, which are the yin and the yang that gave birth to the whole of creation. |
