>> What is a Kua?

The Tao produced the Sky and the Earth. From the union of these antagonistic forces are born 3 sons (Thunder, Water and Mountain), and 3 daughters (Wind, Fire and Lake). This cosmic family is represented by 8 Kua which in turn unite themselves to give birth to the 64 hexagrams of the I Ching. Each kua is made up of a combination of 3 broken or solid lines. The top line represents the Sky, the bottom line the Earth and the middle the the Man at the junction of the Earth and the Sky. Everyone can identify with a Kua. It is our Kua number calculated according to our birth date. Our Kua revives our true nature related to the creation of the universe and remind us that we are the Sky's and EarthÍs children. By combining your Kua number with othersÍs, you make up hexagrams that reveal the essence of your relationships with them.
